Diversifying European Opera

Tonic is proud to be working with ENOA (European Network of Opera Academies) on Empowering Opera, an ambitious four year programme designed to diversify the European opera scene.

Empowering Opera is funded by the European Commission as part of the Creative Europe programme for the 2020–2024 period.

Our work on Empowering Opera sees us work with all 12 enoa member organisations via a hybrid model of in-person and digital interactions with their teams in Belgium, France, Germany, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Serbia, Spain, and the UK. Providing a strategic overview as well as on-the-ground training, guidance and advice, we are driving steady change in this most international of artforms.

When looking for a European partner to support them to achieve their goals, Tonic were the go-to for enoa. Having worked with the network in earlier years we are delighted that Empowering Opera is now giving us the chance to deepen and broaden our work in European opera.

We are pleased to retain close working relationships with our colleagues and peers in Europe, recognising the mutual benefits that this exchange of ideas and understanding brings.

“Tonic has the ability to quickly identify an organisation’s strengths and weaknesses so you can effectively reach your EDI goals with their practical tools. In one session, you feel you took a huge step forward towards something you thought would take months.”
