After six years at the helm of Tonic, we are sad to be saying goodbye to our wonderful Chair, Sita McIntosh.

Sita has made a huge contribution to Tonic, having channelled her combined passions for theatre and equality into turbocharging the reach and impact of our work. We will miss her wisdom, drive and panache but look forward to watching her next steps. In particular, as incoming Chair at Kiln Theatre, one of our partner organisations through the Advance Network.

Sita says “It’s been an honour and a privilege to Chair Tonic and work alongside the indefatigable Lucy Kerbel, a woman whose vision, drive and commitment to equality is relentless.  I am hugely grateful that she took a chance on me as Tonic was not only my first Chair position but my first board position however after meeting Lucy I knew that I wanted to be involved in any way I could.

After six years I step down with a mixture of joy and sadness. I am immensely proud of everything that Tonic has achieved during my tenure, particularly the Tonic Awards, set up specifically to acknowledge and celebrate females and female-led projects and productions that have changed or are changing the landscape of British theatre. Nothing like them existed before and I have no doubt that Lucy and the rest of the board will take them to even dizzier heights in the years to come. I look forward to participating as a guest from now on.”
