Why train with Tonic? We are a leading training provider, offering courses designed specifically for the arts and creative environments. But crucially, each time you book a course with Tonic you also help support our work driving change across the industry. Win, win.

Leadership & Manager Training

Tonic knows that this is a time of accelerated change, both in the arts sector and in wider society. We have heard how this is impacting workforces; that people are engaging with their work and with one another differently. Their needs are shifting, along with their expectations of their leaders and managers.

We feel it’s crucial that leaders and managers are equipped to respond with confidence, tools, and practical guidance in people management. Training with Tonic gives your senior team time away from the coalface to reflect, learn, and feel empowered to return to work with a range of techniques they can implement right away.

How it works

No two senior teams are the same and nor are their needs. For this reason, Tonic’s training sessions are always created specific to your requirements: in a consultation meeting we’ll take you through the range of topics we cover and you can then mix and match them as you wish, assembling a half day, full day, or suite of training days.

Examples of topics we offer include:

  • Establishing Healthy and Productive Interpersonal Dynamics Techniques for establishing warm but professional relationships with your direct reports. Responding constructively to a full range of personalities, including those you may find tricky
  • Communication Frameworks Check-ins, feedback loops, and spaces for discussion need to be in place for your team to be empowered and supported. We’ll appraise different models you can use and weigh up how and when to deploy them
  • Managing in a Shifting Landscape The world is changing fast and so is our sector. We’ll look at practical things managers can put into place to respond to the evolving needs of the workforce
  • Habits and Behaviours of Effective Managers Reflect on your current approach to people management, consider what to keep, what to leave behind, and be introduced to a range of individual actions and techniques that can up your management game
  • Building High-Performing Teams How to build strong collaboration skills in members of your team, foster connection between them and encourage a team-focused outlook
  • Supporting Your Team Through Change Learn mechanisms you can use to bring people on board with change, and minimise the negative destabilising impact it can prompt

All our leadership and management training is created specifically for people working in creative and arts settings. Never generic and always built to respond to the day-to-day realities your senior team are experiencing, you can be confident that Tonic’s training will be honed to your needs. All our sessions are suitable for those new to management and leadership, as well as those with years of experience who are keen to develop their skillset.
