About the Workshop
Long runs can be demanding, and company members will benefit from techniques that enable them to look after themselves, and one other. In this practical workshop, we’ll explore what resilience looks like in the context of a long run, focusing on stamina, clear communication and building a collaborative approach off stage as well as on.
We’ll own up to the things that can make a long run feel tough at times, then share tools that company members can use to develop their collective robustness, empathy and equilibrium. The aim of the workshop is to ensure that, when inevitable challenges arise, a company can navigate these with greater collective ease and assuredness, while still doing a great show every night.
What we’ll cover
- What resilience is in the context of a long run
- The challenges that long runs can present for individuals and companies; the importance of being honest and pragmatic about these
- The individual and collective attitudes and behaviours that can either foster or undermine the resilience of a company
- Striking the balance between your own needs and those of your fellow company members
- The role anyone can play in building a working environment that encourages greater resilience
You’ll come away with
- A clear understanding of why it’s important to be thoughtful and active about fostering individual and collective resilience
- A framework for reflecting on your current levels of resilience and an appreciation of action you could take to either protect or further develop them over the course of the run
- Awareness of how different people in a company might experience and respond to pressure, and increased empathy around this
- Tools that support clear communication and encourage a collaborative, rather than individualistic mindset
- A shared language for the attitudes and behaviours you will seek to collectively model as a company, should challenges arise
