Since our earliest days, Tonic has worked towards building a sector in which everyone is treated with respect and free from harassment. In particular, we have held a keen focus on sexual harassment and have supported organisations both before and post #MeToo to create working environments and processes which guard against it.

We are very pleased that new legislation, the Worker Protection Act, means that from October 2024, employers now have a legal duty to take reasonable steps to prevent sexual harassment in their workplaces. We see this focus on pre-emptive action as a key step forward in terms of reducing instances of sexual harassment at work.

An example of a preventative step that employers can take is ensuring their staff are trained on this topic. At Tonic we are pleased to now offer Preventing Sexual Harassment training. Like all our training, it is crafted specifically with arts and cultural organisations in mind, and can give employers peace of mind that they are adequately informing their staff on the topic. We also offer a ‘top-up’ session specifically for managers, so they can be confident to undertake their responsibilities in relation to the Worker Protection Act.

You can find more information about the sessions here. If you’d find it useful to have a conversation about training with a member of Team Tonic please email info@tonictheatre.co.uk.
