About the Course

Whether it’s dealing with students or fellow staff, this session will equip staff with a range of tools to help them when faced with difficult conversations. We’ll look at 1:1 situations, as well as how to hold space for student groups to engage in complex and nuanced topics sensitively.

  • Understanding challenging communicative behaviours
  • Holding space in the room
  • Understanding what might cloud your judgement in challenging conversations

  • A greater understanding of how to maintain healthy conversations and interpersonal relationships with students and staff
  • Confidence in how to have healthy communication whilst engaging with in-depth and often intense subject matter
  • Understanding of communicative behaviours which could be destructive
  • Confidence in how to structure and facilitate complex conversations with differing opinions
  • Key tools to better navigate difficult conversations
